TabNest is a browser extension that saves and restores sets of tabs. It is built so that your browsing data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what the extension stores and which network requests it makes.
Summary
TabNest does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
Data stored on your device
When you save a session (or autosave runs), TabNest stores the addresses (URLs), titles, favicon addresses, pinned state and tab-group names and colors of the saved tabs, the session name and the time it was saved, and your settings. This data is kept in the browser’s local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device only. It is not synchronized and not sent to us or anyone else. Incognito windows are never saved.
Network requests
TabNest downloads public announcement JSON from https://api.tabnest.app/conf/prefs.json about once a day. When the popup opens, it checks readiness with GET https://tabnest.app/api/v1/pulse; a network error or invalid response does not block local use (fail open). These requests send no user data, tab information, identifiers, query parameters or cookies. A service maintenance response can display https://tabnest.app/maintenance/ in a cross-origin frame; this standalone page runs its display script at the website origin, has no external assets and cannot access extension data. Like any web request, these requests reveal your IP address to the hosting provider, which may keep standard server logs for a short time. TabNest does not automatically open welcome or uninstall pages.
Permissions
tabs and tabGroups: read and reopen your tabs and groups when you save or restore a session. storage and unlimitedStorage: keep your sessions locally, even large ones. alarms: run autosave on schedule. favicon: show site icons from Chrome’s local cache. Access to tabnest.app: download public announcements, check readiness and display the isolated maintenance page described above.
No sale, no sharing
We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, do not use it for purposes unrelated to saving and restoring tabs, and do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
TabNest’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Sessions are kept until you delete them. Deleting a session in TabNest removes it permanently after a short undo period. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of its data from your browser.
Children
TabNest is a general-purpose tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be announced in the extension.
